Cryotherapy

23.7.2007

POLARIUM,

polárium
The first equipment of this type in North Czech opened with celebrations on 18 June 2007 in the Sadove spa building. The polarium provides cryotherapy services - treatment using cold up to -160°C - in special cryo-chambers.

The whole body cooling therapy is a modern spa and rehabilitation method. It is based on the use of alternating the effects of very low temperatures and room temperature on the human organism. The basic principle is to a certain extent similar to a sauna. The sauna uses moisture and warm air at a temperature of +60 to +110°C. The whole body cooling therapy uses the effects of extremely cold temperatures in the range of -110 to -160°C. An essential difference from the sauna is the fact that a quiet routine and relaxation is recommended after a sauna. After whole body cryotherapy the opposite is desired - intensive movement.

In the Czech Republic this is a relatively new curative method, however in the world this method has been used for over 30 years. Teplice Spa in Czech is the only facility in north Czech which uses whole body cryotherapy for treatment and rehabilitation. From the available foreign literature it is  relatively a very safe method, its curative effects can be made use of by people from practically all age groups and states of health.
