Thermal water

Teplice Spa is situated over springs of unique bicarbonate-sulphate-sodium thermal water rich in minerals and an admixture of radon. In the form of baths and other kinds of hydrotherapy, Teplice springs achieve unique therapeutic results.    

According to current scientific knowledge, properties of the Teplice springs result from unique hydrogeological conditions:    
-  the homogenous environment of an igneous rock called "Teplice rhyolite" throughout the development of the thermal waters in time    
-  the foundation of a massive water-bearing rhyolite body as deep as 1,000 m below ground level as a condition of an intensive absorption of the Earth's heat and obtaining a permanently balanced concentration of minerals, including trace elements important for treatment     
-  the unusual 18-thousand-year development of the thermal waters

a catastrophic inrush in the nearby coal mine Döllinger; only thanks to intensive works, it was possible to refill the emptied spring shafts soon again, without interrupting the spa season

a unique reconstruction of the most frequently used spring called Pravřídlo (Ancient Spring), establishment of a first-class monitoring and control equipment to use the springs correctly and to protect them

at present, Pravřídlo (the Ancient Spring) reaches the temperature of 41 °C; thanks to the comprehensive care, the quality of the Teplice thermal waters increases, and we expect even further increase in their natural temperature   

 

Although there are lots of water sources and thermal waters with a therapeutic potential all over the world, no locality comparable to Teplice is known. Even the other springs in the Czech basin extremely rich in natural sources are not even remotely similar to the ones in Teplice.
